Poroshenko, Lagarde discuss prospects for Ukraine’s economic growth

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has met in Davos and discussed cooperation and prospects for Ukraine's economic growth in 2019.

"The President of Ukraine and the IMF Managing Director discussed the prospects for Ukraine's economic growth in 2019. Thus, it was emphasized that the state budget deficit, inflation rate, gold and foreign exchange reserves correspond to the parameters stipulated in the documents of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund," the press service of the Head of State reports.

In addition, the parties commended the progress of cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF and the launch of a new Stand-By Arrangement.

Poroshenko also informed Lagarde of the steps taken to reform the tax and customs sector, to ensure the stability and efficiency of the financial sector, and to conduct large and small scale privatization.

"The IMF Managing Director highlighted the leadership of the President in the ongoing reforms in Ukraine and expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the entire program of cooperation for 2019," the statement reads.
