Ukraine, China hold political consultations on strategic partnership development

Ukraine and China have held political consultations to consider the status and priorities of strategic partnership development between the two countries.

The press service of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reported this following the working visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia to the People's Republic of China.

"On January 22, at the Foreign Ministry of China, bilateral political consultations, co-chaired by Deputy Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Hanhui, were held during which the following issues were considered: the current state and priorities of strategic partnership development between Ukraine and the People's Republic of China, Ukraine's participation in the implementation of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative, the interaction between the foreign policy departments of the two countries.  The parties also exchanged views on a wide range of global issues, the current situation in different regions of the world,” reads the report.

According to the ministry’s press service, the head of the Ukrainian delegation also met with the leadership of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of China’s Foreign Ministry. The parties discussed the ways to expand the interaction of the two countries in international organizations, considering the existing steady traditions of mutual support.

Kyslytsia also held talks with the leadership of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.  The parties discussed the current stage and further development of Ukrainian-Chinese relations the expansion of inter-party and inter-parliamentary contacts between the two countries, the process of reforms and the domestic political situation in Ukraine and China.

"Participants in political consultations and meetings expressed mutual satisfaction with the current state and prospects of the strategic partnership relations between Ukraine and China and stated about mutual interest in a comprehensive deepening of cooperation between the two countries, agreed on measures to strengthen the exchange of information," the ministry’s press service reported.
