More than 200,000 Ukrainian sailors work on foreign ships

More than 200,000 Ukrainian sailors work on foreign ships; this confirms a high level of Ukraine's responsibility for training professionals.

Chairman of the State Service for Maritime and River Transport of Ukraine Dmytro Petrenko stated this during a press conference at Ukrinform.

"More than 200,000 Ukrainian sailors work on ships under a foreign state flag, which proves that Ukraine is a maritime state. In addition, this confirms our responsibility for training sailors, they also make a major contribution to our economy," he said.

According to Petrenko, there is a negative trend in reducing the demand for Ukrainian sailors on the world labor market, that’s why Ukraine needs to make efforts in order not to lose its potential in this area.
