Groysman, Merkel discuss situation in Sea of Azov

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has said that the situation in the Sea of Azov was discussed during a meeting with Germany’s Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.

He stated this at a press briefing following the meeting with Merkel, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We discussed the situation in the Sea of Azov, the unconcealed aggression from the Russian side against our navy sailors. We also spoke about the fact that we should take measures to release our captured sailors. The Federal Chancellor is well informed about the situation in the Sea of Azov, including all aspects of what was happening there and what problems have been created there by Russia, including the construction of an illegal bridge, the complication of navigation," said Groysman.

He added that he hopes for a serious discussion of this topic at the G-20 Summit.

Also, Groysman noted that the issue of Nord Stream 2 was raised and that Merkel, in her open speech at the German-Ukrainian Business Forum, noted that Ukraine should remain a gas transit country.

As reported, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman is on a two-day working visit to Germany.
