Poroshenko discusses elections, Minsk agreements with delegation from the U.S. and European Parliament

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and representatives of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) of the United States and the European Parliament discussed the progress in Ukraine’s reform process.

"The head of state held a meeting with the representatives of the National Democratic Institute and the European Parliament. They discussed the progress in Ukrainian reforms, the pre-election situation in the country and the current situation ... in Donbas and Crimea," the press service of the head of state reported.

The president cited examples of Russia's interference in the electoral process in Ukraine and called on Western partners to tighten sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.

Poroshenko praised support for Ukraine from its partners and allies in the issue of restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.

During the meeting, the parties also noted that the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2019 would not be an obstacle to either Minsk or Normandy formats.
