Putin not supports ‘Normandy format’ as it forces Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine – Iryna Lutsenko

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not like the "Normandy format" because it forces Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, MP Iryna Lutsenko, said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Putin does not like the "Normandy format"… This format does not work in his favor at all, as the world forces Putin to leave Ukraine, withdraw his troops and to allow the Ukrainian people to control 420 km of border,” Lutsenko said.

In addition, she noted that the “Normandy format” made Putin return the annexed Crimea.

“Therefore, Putin will look for any excuses not to fulfill the obligations,” Lutsenko added.

As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at a press conference in Singapore on November 15 that there was no point in holding a new meeting of the “Normandy Four” in the current situation in Ukraine.
