Ukraine preparing new package of sanctions against Russia - Turchynov

Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia, but it can also affect some individuals in Ukraine and even representatives of a number of European organizations.

NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov told this to reporters in Kyiv on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"A new package of sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council is currently being prepared. The Cabinet of Ministers and the Security Service are preparing their proposals. The Verkhovna Rada has put forward its proposals. I am convinced that this will be a powerful package of diverse sanctions, including against those who were the leaders, inspirers and organizers of fake elections in occupied territories and against a wide range of Ukrainian enterprises that cooperate with the [Russian] defense sector or strengthen the security and defense of the Russian Federation. I do not exclude that this list might also include representatives of certain European organizations who, for provocative reasons, pretended to monitor those illegal 'elections'," Turchynov said.

At the same time, when asked whether he knew anything about media reports that Ukraine allegedly supplies titanium to the army of the aggressor country, Turchynov said: "No, I know nothing about that. If you have such information, I ask you to pass it to me. We will check it and take measures."

He noted that Ukraine is protecting itself from Russia not only on the battlefield, but also through sanctions, limiting any support to the Russian industry, and not only the defense industry.

"Therefore, our state will block any attempts to supply titanium or any other raw materials to our 'neighbor'," Turchynov said.
