Johannes Hahn: Murder of Handziuk must be prosecuted

Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn met with civil activists in Ukraine and stated those responsible for the ordering and committing murder of activist Kateryna Handziuk must be brought to justice.

The EU Delegation to Ukraine wrote this on Twitter.

“I spoke to civil society representatives in my 1st meeting in Ukraine tonight. The murder of Kateryna Handziuk and all crimes against activists must be prosecuted,” the EU Delegation to Ukraine cited Hahn as saying.

He also added that there won't be “a stable, modern, prosperous Ukraine without a strong rule of law and independent judicial institutions.”

As reported, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn is on an official visit to Ukraine on November 9.

A well-known activist, volunteer, member of the Kherson City Council, Handziuk, who had sulfuric acid thrown in her face on July 31, died at hospital on November 4.
