Government to allocate UAH 500 mln to cover losses of state mines - Groysman

The Cabinet of Ministers will approve a decision on the allocation of UAH 500 million to cover losses of state-run coal mines, according to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

"Today we pass a decision to allocate UAH 500 million to cover losses of Ukrainian state-owned coal mines, to pay wages," Groysman said at the government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

He said that Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalik will also represent a program for reforming Ukrainian coal mines in order to secure a competitive price for coal from state-owned mines.

As reported, fifteen miners have been refusing to climb to the surface for more than two weeks, demanding payment of wage arrears, as well as dismissal of heads of PJSC Lysychanskvuhillia. Wage arrears to coal miners exceed UAH 126.862 million.
