Szijjártó declines to comment on Russia’s impact on Ukraine-Hungary relations

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó declined to comment on Russia's impact on the deterioration of Ukraine-Hungary relations, arguing that such assessment is beyond the scope of his powers.

“I heard about this from the representatives of Ukrainian authorities. However, the assessment – whether it is true or not – is beyond the scope of my powers. They insist on Russian influence in Ukraine, hence the task of the Ukrainian authorities is to counteract it,” Szijjártó said during the Warsaw Security Forum on Wednesday, answering the question of an Ukrinform correspondent.

As reported, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó handed over a draft agreement on support for the national minority in Zakarpattia region to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin during a meeting in Warsaw on Wednesday. The ministers agreed to hold the next meeting at the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan in early December.
