Poroshenko meets with President of NATO PA

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Rasa Jukneviciene.

"Petro Poroshenko underscored the need to preserve the transatlantic unity and coherent approaches of NATO member countries for effective counteraction to hybrid threats from Russia. The Head of State informed the President of NATO PA about his initiative to enshrine the strategic course of our state towards full-fledged membership in NATO in the Constitution," the press service of the Presidential Administration reports.

Poroshenko expressed his condolences to the families of the pilots, who had died in SU-27 crash during the Clear Sky 2018 multinational drills, in which Ukrainian and NATO military participated.

The Head of State also thanked the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and strong condemnation of the Russian aggression. He expressed the hope that the NATO PA would give priority attention to the issues of further deepening the partnership with Ukraine within the framework of the Alliance's open door policy.
