Ukraine supports new EU’s sanctions regime to address use and proliferation of chemical weapons

Ukraine is ready to cooperate within a framework of a new EU’s sanctions regime to address the use and proliferation of chemical weapons.

“The Council of the European Union adopted a new regime of restrictive measures that allow imposing sanctions on persons and entities involved in the development and use of chemical weapons and also stressed the need to cooperate in countering other hybrid threats. We are ready to cooperate!” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin posted on Twitter.

According to the press release of the Council of the European Union, the EU will now be able to impose sanctions on persons and entities involved in the development and use of chemical weapons anywhere, regardless of their nationality and location.
