Minister Semerak: EU should move to ‘more for more’ approach towards Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia

Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia have a more ambitious agenda than other Eastern Partnership countries and implement it. Therefore, the EU should proceed to ‘more for more’ approach towards these countries.

"Ukraine is one of the leaders in adopting new legislation on environmental impact assessment, basin water management and water monitoring system. This suggests that the EU should proceed to a "more for more" approach, in particular, towards Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, which, compared to other Eastern Partnership countries, have a more ambitious agenda, taking into account the association agreement with the EU,” Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine Ostap Semerak said at the second Eastern Partnership (EaP) formal ministerial meeting on environment and climate change, which was held in Luxembourg on October 9.

There is a need to constantly raise the issue of climate change in society and of the increased political leadership, support and pressure to promote the environmental agenda both in the Eastern Partnership countries and in the EU, the minister added.
