PACE to hold urgent debate on Russia

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hold the urgent debate on Russia.

The decision made by the PACE Bureau was announced by Deputy Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the PACE Georgii Logvynskyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from Strasbourg.

"As far as I know, the debate on the Russian Federation initiated by certain political groups has already been scheduled. On the afternoon of Wednesday, there will be a separate topic of the debate on the return of the Russian Federation. Consequently, the issues will be raised about the aggressive policy of Russia in Europe," Logvynskyi said.

This session is extremely important as a resolution is proposed to be vote on, which "will actually allow the Russian Federation to return to this hall," he noted.

"This means, respectively, the lifting of sanctions. If sanctions are lifted, this will affect other sanctions. The billions in losses the Russian Federation suffers now, will be spent on support for the armed hostilities in Donbas," Logvynskyi added.

He also noted that he had told the European partners those funds would also be directed against them.

"Taking this step, Europeans will themselves finance the anti-European policies," the Ukrainian lawmaker said.

October 8-12, the autumn session of the PACE continues in Strasbourg.
