The extension of the law on the special order of local self-governance in the temporarily occupied territory of Donbas is needed for the preservation of international sanctions against Russia and creation of conditions for the deployment of UN peacekeeping mission.

"The extension of the law on the special order of local self-governance in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions is needed for the preservation of the international sanction pressure on the Russian Federation and creation of conditions for the deployment of UN peacekeeping mission," President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko posted on Twitter.

The Head of State also thanked Ukrainian lawmakers for their decision.

As reported, on October 4, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law extending the special order of local self-governance in Donbas until December 31, 2019, inclusive. The President has already signed the law.
