Hollande calls for deployment of peacekeepers on border between Ukraine and Russia

Former French President Francois Hollande believes that the deployment of peacekeepers to Donbas will make sense only on the border between Ukraine and Russia.

He stated this in an interview with the Priamy television channel.

Hollande said that he sees a peacekeeping operation as a precondition for the presence of peace itself.

"In my opinion, the issue can concern only the border between Russia and Ukraine. In any other place, a peacekeeping mission will make no sense," he said.

Hollande said that he would welcome any initiatives that could facilitate the deployment of peacekeepers as part of the Minsk process.

As reported, on October 1, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko decorated Hollande with the Order of Liberty.
