Ukrainian parliament speaker: Small and medium-sized enterprises should become basis for Ukrainian economy growth

The development of small and medium-sized enterprises should become the basis for growth of Ukrainian economy.

"I believe that the development of small and medium-sized enterprises should become the basis for growth of Ukrainian economy," Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy said at the meeting of the Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Verkhovna Rada press service reports.

Ukraine has recently seen significant progress in the development of small business, he said. The chairman recalled that in May 2017 the Government of Ukraine approved the Strategy for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship in Ukraine until 2020, which defined the priority directions of the implementation of state policy in this area.

In addition, last year Ukraine ratified the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Union on the participation of Ukraine in the EU programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

The 51st meeting of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee takes place in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on September 26
