Poroshenko, Volker discuss prospects for deploying UN force to Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker have discussed the latest developments in Donbas and the prospects for deploying a UN peacekeeping force to its occupied part.

Their meeting took place during the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, the press service of the head of state reported.

"The parties discussed the latest developments in Donbas and the prospects for the deployment of a UN-led multinational peacekeeping mission to its occupied part," the report said.

Poroshenko and Volker also emphasized the need for the immediate release of all Ukrainian hostages.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of security and defense between Ukraine and the United States, as well as interaction in further implementation of reforms in Ukraine, the press service said.

Volker also informed Poroshenko about the strengthening of the sanctions pressure against the Russian Federation, in particular the inclusion of 12 Russian companies in the sanctions list.
