Poroshenko, Norwegian parliament speaker discuss situation in Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with the Norwegian parliamentary delegation headed by Storting President Tone Wilhelmsen Troen, the press service of the head of state has reported. 

"Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with the parliamentary delegation of the Storting (Parliament) of Norway headed by Mrs. President Tone Wilhelmsen Troen. The sides discussed inter-parliamentary interaction between Ukraine and Norway. The head of state thanked for the firm position of the Norwegian Parliament in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," reads the statement.

According to the statement, Troen expressed her intention to support an active Ukrainian-Norwegian inter-parliamentary dialogue, "as evidenced by the recent creation in the Storting of a friendship group with Ukraine, for the first time in the history of bilateral relations."

The sides also discussed the security situation in Donbas, the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and de-occupation of Crimea.

In addition, the parties spoke about further steps to free Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russia.
