Volker: US will continue to push for restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity

The United States will never recognize Russia’s purported annexation of Crimea.

“Important discussion about next steps after the Crimea Declaration. Our Crimea Declaration is a serious statement that U.S. will never recognize Russia’s purported annexation of Crimea and that we will continue to push for restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker posted on Twitter.

The Crimean Declaration was proclaimed by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in July. The declaration stipulates the call for Russia to stop the occupation of Crimea. The document, in particular, was praised by Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Poland and other countries.

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker arrived in Kyiv to participate in the 15th Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting. He also met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and discussed the situation in Donbas, energy security and the sanctions policy.
