Klimkin opens Ukraine's Consulate General in Canada's Edmonton

The Consulate General of Ukraine was opened in the city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin arrived in Edmonton to participate in the official opening ceremony, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The minister said that the development of economic ties between Canada and Ukraine would be one of the important tasks of a new diplomatic mission.

"We will have many investment projects, partnership between universities and sister cities," the minister stressed.

The Consulate General in Edmonton became the fourth diplomatic institution of Ukraine in Canada. There are also Ukraine’s Consulate General in Toronto, Ukraine’s Embassy and Consulate in Ottawa.

More than 360,000 citizens of Ukrainian origin live in Alberta. This is about 10% of the total population of the province.
