Austrian Chancellor: Russia’s aggression against Ukraine requires clear reaction

Austrian Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has called Russia's actions against Ukraine the aggression that requires "clear reaction."

“I am now speaking not only as the Austrian Federal Chancellor but also as the President of the Council of the European Union. We expect a very clear reaction to Russian aggression,” Kurz said at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In this regard, in June of this year, the sanctions against the aggressor were extended, he noted.

At the same time, the Austrian Chancellor added that the situation in Donbas should be resolved in a peaceful way, not military. Kurz called on Russia to return to the negotiating table in the Normandy format for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.

On September 4, Austrian Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is on a working visit to Ukraine.
