U.S. Department of State comments on Ukrainian ambassador’s statement on purchase of air defense systems

The U.S. Department of State has commented on the statement of Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valery Chaly on possible purchase of American air defense systems.

"In accordance with the official policy of the Department of State, we do not comment on potential agreements on sale or transfer of weapons and agreements pending approval before the U.S. Congress is officially informed about such agreements," the U.S. Department of State said in a commentary to VOA Ukrainian service.

As reported, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Valery Chaly said that Ukraine had filed a request to the official Washington regarding the purchase of air defense systems worth $750 million a unit.
