Cabinet proposes to impose sanctions against 19 legal entities involved in Kerch bridge construction

The Ukrainian government will submit to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) a list of legal entities that could be sanctioned for illegal construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge.

The press service of the Ukrainian Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons reported this on Wednesday with reference to the Cabinet’s decision.

"This decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Wednesday. Thus, the government approved the draft regulation on the imposition of sanctions against those involved in the construction of the Kerch bridge," the report reads.

The document suggests imposing sanctions against 19 legal entities (private companies, state-owned companies, federal agencies of the Russian Federation), which control or which founded companies involved in the illegal construction of the Kerch bridge.

In particular, the list includes Stroygazmontazh (the company which built the bridge), its subsidiary SGM-Most (Moscow), Institut Giprostroymost-St. Petersburg (which designed the project), and subcontractors Mostotrest (Moscow) and Portgidrostroy (Novorossiysk).

Such sanctions would make economic relations with Ukraine impossible, allow to limit or terminate the companies’ economic relations with the European Union and the United States.
