Poroshenko expects from Foreign Ministry a package of documents to terminate treaty on cooperation with Russia

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that he expects a package of documents from the Foreign Ministry to begin a process of termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

The president stated this while speaking at a meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In the near future, I expect the package of documents from the Foreign Ministry that are required for the implementation of this process," Poroshenko said.

He noted that "today we have approached well prepared and legally protected the next step - the termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, which has long been an anachronism due to Moscow's fault."

As reported, in April, Poroshenko said that he would propose the Verkhovna Rada to terminate certain provisions of the treaty on friendship with Russia, which had been conducting military aggression against Ukraine for four years.
