Ukraine cannot raise issue of peacekeeping mission at UN Security Council without decision of Normandy Four

Ukraine cannot raise the issue of UN peacekeeping mission deployment in Donbas at the UN Security Council without reaching an agreement in the "Normandy format."

"All the events at the UN, i.e. specific negotiations at the Security Council on the mandate for this [peacekeeping] operation, should start with certain decisions within the Normandy Four group. From the very beginning, we agreed with our partners, primarily France and Germany, that we will act jointly. Ukraine cannot promote one idea, and Germany and France promote another one," Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko said at a press club meeting within the framework of the 13th meeting of ambassadors at the Foreign Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Ukraine cannot initiate discussion on peacekeeping mission at the UN Security Council because there is currently no progress within the Normandy Four format, Yelchenko explained.
