Ukraine reaffirms importance of uniting world in fight against terrorism - MFA

Ukraine reaffirms the importance of further consolidating international efforts to counter terrorism and criminal extremism, including by responding to the preconditions that may contribute to the spread of this threat.

This is stated in a commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) on the occasion of International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism (August 21).

"Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including terrorism, supported by states, constitutes one of the most important threats to international peace and security," the commentary says.

The ministry recalled that Ukraine, as a state that has suffered from Russia-sponsored terrorism for almost five years, is a co-author of UN General Assembly resolution 72/165 and expresses its solidarity with the victims of terrorist attacks.

"No life lost as a result of terrorist attacks is forgotten. All those responsible for these horrible crimes, including the organizers and sponsors of terrorism, will be held accountable," the commentary says.
