Ukraine, U.S. resuming work of strategic partnership commission - ambassador

Ukraine and the United States are working to resume the work of the Strategic Partnership Commission, which was founded ten years ago and closed down during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych.

This issue is being discussed, including with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said in an interview with Ukrinform.

"I really passed the words of gratitude from the president of Ukraine and a confirmation of our joint position with the United States on Crimea. In addition, we coordinated our positions and spoke about concrete steps to resume the work of the U.S.-Ukraine Strategic Partnership Commission. In this regard, the role of the Secretary of State is key," the Ukrainian diplomat said, speaking about his conversation with the U.S. Secretary of State.

He also stressed that he was very pleased with Pompeo's openness.

"The opportunity to talk from time to time with the U.S. Secretary of State accelerates the implementation of bilateral agreements reached at meetings of the presidents of Ukraine and the United States," Chaly said.
