Wess Mitchell, Mustafa Dzhemilev speak about Crimea

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs A. Wess Mitchell has met with the Ukrainian president’s envoy for Crimean Tatar affairs, MP Mustafa Dzhemilev.

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker reported this on Twitter.

According to him, Wess Mitchell and Mustafa Dzhemilev discussed the declaration proclaimed by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on the non-recognition of Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea.

Volker added that Dzhemilev raised the issue of the horrible human rights conditions in the annexed Crimea and called on the international community to do more.

As reported, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on July 25 issued a statement, titled "Crimea Declaration," in which he said the U.S. does not recognize Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea.
