EU Delegation to Ukraine: Progress in solving Sheremet’s murder is important for public trust in law enforcement institutions

The EU Delegation to Ukraine expects the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet, so as to bring those responsible to justice.

"Two years ago Ukrainian media community lost one of its most talented and brave journalists - Pavel Sheremet - in a cold-blooded killing. We expect the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into this crime, so as to bring those responsible to justice. Progress in this case will no doubt be important for public trust in law enforcement institutions," the EU Delegation to Ukraine posted on Facebook.

As the Delegation notes, this tragedy remains a source of sadness for family and many of colleagues of Sheremet, who continue their vital work.

As a reminder, famous journalist Pavel Sheremet was killed in the center of Kyiv early on July 20, 2016. The car he was driving was blown up by an improvised explosive device. The criminal proceedings were instituted under the Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (murder, committed by a method dangerous to the lives of many persons).
