Poroshenko hopes for NATO support on peacekeepers in Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine hopes for support from the North Atlantic Alliance on an international peacekeeping force in Donbas.

He said this during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We hope for NATO's support for an international peacekeeping mission that could have protected the entire occupied territory, including the uncontrolled parts of the Ukrainian-Russian border," Poroshenko said.

He also added that sanctions against the Russian Federation cannot be canceled until "the end of aggressive actions and revanchist policy of Russia."

On July 11-12, 2018, Poroshenko is on a visit to Belgium, where he takes part in the NATO Summit at the invitation of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
