Poroshenko, Trump to discuss meeting with Putin

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. President Donald Trump plan to discuss today a meeting of the U.S. leader with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Brussels.

The Ukrainian president said this before the start of the second day of the NATO summit in Brussels on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I hope we will have an opportunity to discuss it today with President Trump. I greatly appreciate absolutely strong support from NATO, from the United States, aimed at ending the war, de-occupation of Ukraine, restoring Ukraine's sovereignty over occupied territories," the head of state said.

Poroshenko also noted that the U.S. position is absolutely clear regarding the non-recognition of Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea.

Presidents Trump and Putin are due to meet in Helsinki on July 16.
