Poroshenko welcomes decision by NATO summit on strengthening partnership with Ukraine

President Petro Poroshenko welcomes the decision by the NATO summit on strengthening partnership with Ukraine, the president’s press service reports.

In a post on his Facebook page, Poroshenko wrote: “I commend the decision by the NATO summit as regards the enhancement of partnership with Ukraine and our irrefutable prospects of Euro-Atlantic integration. This is the result of many years of our team’s work, a clear recognition of Ukraine’s progress on the path of reforms and movement towards the NATO standards”.

He also highly appreciated the commitment of the Alliance to support sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and its internationally recognized borders.

“NATO strongly condemns and will never recognize the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea. Our partners require Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of our state and stop any political, financial and material support of the illegal armed formations in the Donbas," he added.

Poroshenko also commended the allies' readiness to continue powerful, coordinated, transatlantic pressure on the Russian aggressor, including sanctions.

As reported, President Petro Poroshenko is on an official visit to Brussels to take part in the NATO summit.
