Ukraine ready to resist provocateurs in elections - president

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine will be ready to give a sharp rebuff to any possible provocations in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019.

He stated this at a joint press conference with European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels on Monday, July 9, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Next year we will also have our own products, but this time we will be prepared for any provocations that may occur during the presidential and parliamentary elections. Therefore, any misinformation campaign will face a sharp reaction from Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

As reported, the 20th EU-Ukraine summit took place in Brussels (Belgium) on Monday, July 9. The summit was dedicated to discussing the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including the establishment of a deep and comprehensive free trade area, and prospects for further deepening Ukraine's sectoral integration in the areas of the digital market, energy union, customs, justice and home affairs.
