Ukraine, Serbia to create commission on historical issues

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic have agreed to set up a commission that will study common political events in the history of the two states.

Poroshenko said this at a joint briefing with Vucic on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"It is very important that Ukrainians learn more about Serbia, as it brings us closer together. We also agreed to set up a commission that will study common political events in our history, which will make our nations closer to each other," Poroshenko said.

He also presented to the Serbian president a book on Ukraine's history in Serbian.

"The book was translated into Serbian, published before our visit and shows how close Ukrainian and Serbian peoples are today," Poroshenko said.
