Poroshenko calls on world to move to deeds in liberation of political prisoners

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has called on the world community to move beyond words to deeds in liberation of Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russia.

As the Head of State wrote on Facebook, he is grateful to the world community for the unity around the painful situation with Ukrainian prisoners held by the Kremlin.

"In my opinion, the time has come for our international partners to move beyond statements and expressions of concern to the decisive actions, like a large-scale and powerful response to poisoning in Salisbury," the President noted.

As reported, about 70 Ukrainian political prisoners are held in Russia and in the territory of the occupied Crimea, including Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison on trumped-up espionage charges.
