‘Normandy four’ summit to be held but not in near future – Betsa

A meeting of the heads of the "Normandy Four" states will be held but not in the near future, since preliminary agreements should be agreed to resolve the situation in Donbas.

Spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Mariana Betsa said this in comments to journalists.

"Undoubtedly, the summit of the heads of the "Normandy Four" states is expected, but not in the short term. Because we need a result, but not a summit for summit's sake," Betsa said.

She notes that Ukraine needs real security in Donbas, the release of political prisoners and the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission, which will contribute to the settlement of the situation in Donbas.

According to Betsa, after the meeting of the "Normandy Four" at the level of foreign ministers, political advisors and other technical services will work on resolving these issues.

As Ukrinform reported, on June 11, the foreign ministers of the "Normandy Four" (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) met in Berlin.
