Klimkin: New law on diplomatic service to help Ukrainian diplomats move forward

Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin says that the new law on diplomatic service will promote the work of Ukrainian diplomats.

Speaking at the official document signing ceremony, the official said: "We have to move forward. Only unity and inspiration - this is how the diplomatic service should work in times of this war, which we will win”.

Klimkin thanked the head of the state for signing the new law, as well as for “belonging to the diplomatic family and friendly support,” an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As earlier reported, President Petro Poroshenko signed the law on diplomatic service. The signing ceremony took place outside the building of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

According to an explanatory note to the law, the document aims at establishing new legal and organizational bases for the functioning of diplomatic service as a special service of the state, which is the professional activity of officials of diplomatic service associated with the implementation of Ukraine's foreign policy, the protection of its national interests in the sphere of international relations, as well as rights and interests of citizens and legal entities of Ukraine abroad.
