Canada will continue to support Ukraine - Trudeau

Canada remains a strong friend of Ukraine and provides support to it in the face of Russian aggression.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said this in the Canadian parliament on Wednesday, June 13, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Canada continues to be a strong and steadfast friend to Ukraine, whether it's standing up against the illegal Russia annexation of Crimea or interference in Donbas, whether it's working with our troops in Ukraine to continue to train Ukrainian forces, whether it's signing or moving forward with a Canada-Ukraine trade deal, whether it's continuing to look for closer trade ties between our countries," Trudeau said.

He added that he had expressed this opinion during a recent telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"As I told President Poroshenko just a few days ago when I spoke to him, we will continue to support Ukraine in its march towards greater progress, greater success for everyone," Trudeau said.

As Ukrinform reported, Trudeau and Poroshenko had a telephone conversation last week, during which they agreed to cooperate in maintaining rules-based world order.
