Yelchenko elected vice president of 73rd session of UN General Assembly

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko has been elected as Vice President of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

The General Assembly’s voting took place in New York on Tuesday.

"Amb. Yelchenko elected as a Vice President of the UN General Assembly for the 73rd session, which kicks off on 18 September 2018," the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN wrote on Twitter.

"Ukraine is ready to actively contribute to the implementation of the UN General Assembly’s tasks on the whole range of issues, from maintenance of international peace and security to fulfillment of the goals of stable development and protection of human rights," Yelchenko said after the election.

He also noted that the Ukrainian delegation to the United Nations during the next sessional year would actively support the proper organization and effective work of the session of the General Assembly.
