Poroshenko meets with King Felipe VI of Spain
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain.

In Madrid, the meeting is attended by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain Alfonso Dastis and Ambassador of Spain to Ukraine Silvia Cortés. The Ukrainian side is represented by Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Kostiantyn Yeliseyev.
This is the first visit of the Ukrainian president to the Kingdom of Spain over the past 22 years. Ukraine's second president Leonid Kuchma visited Spain in 1996.
Spain and Ukraine have been developing their bilateral relations since the proclamation of Ukraine's independence in 1991. In January 2017, the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was marked.
