Normandy Four ministers to meet in Berlin on June 11 - Maas

A meeting of the Normandy Four at the level of foreign ministers will take place in Berlin on June 11, and the deployment of a United Nations peacekeeping force to Donbas will be on its agenda, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has said.

He stated this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Mariupol on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Over the last few weeks I have held talks with the foreign ministers of Ukraine, France and Russia. I am glad that we still managed to agree on a meeting in the 'Normandy format' at the level of foreign ministers. I am glad that this meeting will take place in Berlin on June 11, and we will be able to talk about the development of the situation in Ukraine, the development of the Minsk process and the further development of events," Maas said.

He added that the meeting participants would also discuss a new subject - the subject of the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force to Donbas and the vision of each minister on how it should be deployed.

According to Maas, each minister must make a personal contribution to resolving this issue. "But it is good that there is at least a common view on the need for such a mission," he said.

Maas is on a working visit to Ukraine. He visits Ukraine for the first time as German foreign minister.
