UN peacekeeping mission should be deployed throughout conflict zone – Groysman

To achieve its goals, a UN peacekeeping mission should have broad powers and be deployed throughout the conflict zone, in particular, on the uncontrolled part of the Ukrainian-Russian border.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this in his address on the occasion of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, the Governmental portal reported.

"The situation is complicated by the fact that the deployment of peacekeepers in Donbas requires an approval by the aggressor state, with which we have different visions of this mission, in the UN Security Council. However, Ukraine is ready to actively defend its position in the future. We will urge the world community to work actively in this direction, as every day of delay claims the lives of our defenders. To achieve its goals, the UN peacekeeping mission should have broad powers and be deployed throughout the conflict zone, in particular, on the uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border," Groysman said.

"I am sure that with the support of the international community and the courage of our fighters, we are able to return peace to Ukraine and restore the territorial integrity of the country," the head of the government added.
