Estonia supports EU’s and NATO’s open door policy towards Ukraine

Estonia supports EU’s and NATO’s open door policy towards Ukraine and makes practical efforts to implement the reforms necessary for joining these institutions.

President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid said this during a joint briefing with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The doors of EU’s and NATO’s membership should remain open for Ukraine, and the ties that exist today between Estonia and Ukraine should leave these doors open and bring your country closer to the European center," Kaljulaid said.

Estonian taxpayers allocate more than EUR 2 million annually for various programs in Ukraine, which has always been and remains an important partner for Estonia, the President of Estonia noted.

Kaljulaid assured that Estonia would continue to support the reforms carried out by the Ukrainian parliament and government.
