Germany’s economy minister going to visit Ukraine, Russia to discuss Nord Stream 2

Economy Minister of Germany Peter Altmaier is going to visit Ukraine and Russia to discuss the Nord Stream 2 project.

"Federal Economy Minister Peter Altmaier intends to visit Ukraine and Russia in the near future," the Handelsblatt agency informs.

In particular, on Sunday and Monday (May 13 and 14) he intends to visit Kyiv and Moscow to discuss "energy and economic policy issues".

The parties will also discuss the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project and the future role of Ukraine as a transit country.

In addition, Altmaier's visit to Russia will be part of preparations for Chancellor Angela Merkel's trip to Sochi on May 18, where she will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the agency reports.
