President: Ukraine knocks on NATO’s door not empty-handed

Growing strength and capacity of the Ukrainian army is a weighty argument in favor of full membership of Ukraine in the North Atlantic Alliance.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of establishment of the border guard service of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Our strength is a weighty argument in favor of our full membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. We knock on their door not empty-handed," the Head of State said.

As he recalled, it became known last week that the Armed Forces of Ukraine was ranked in the list of the world's most powerful armies, according to Global Firepower.

Ukraine ranks eighth [in the all-European ranking] and first among non-NATO members, Poroshenko noted.
