G7 members to support Ukraine - Freeland

The Group of Seven (G7) members have promised to continue supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland has said.

She said this at the G7 summit in Toronto on Monday, April 23, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Ukraine is too well familiar with the true consequences of Russia's ill-treatment, so the G7 countries will continue to support Ukraine during the next elections in the face of aggression, Freeland said.

She added that G7 members would also help conduct the necessary anti-corruption and economic reforms in Ukraine.

The G7, as a group, needs to be united in its firm commitment to resolving instability, wherever it emerged, Freeland said.

The G7 Foreign and Security Ministers meeting is being held in Toronto, Canada. The Ukrainian side also received an invitation to take part in the summit's familiarization session.
