Linkevičius: EU could strengthen anti-Russian sanctions over non-fulfillment of Minsk accords

The European Union could strengthen sanctions against Russia, primarily, over its failure to comply with the Minsk peace accords.

Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius said this before the meeting of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I do not exclude such a possibility. It [the reason for strengthening the sanctions] is not only the actions [of Russia] in Syria, but the lack of progress in Minsk [accords]," the Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.

Linkevicius also emphasized that sanctions against Russia should be further extended for 12 months instead of six.
