Poroshenko, Merkel to discuss peacekeepers, reform

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, during his visit to Germany on April 9-10, will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss peacekeepers, support for reform and joint Ukrainian-German projects.

He stated this at a press conference for regional media in Vinnytsia on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"I'm leaving for Germany on Monday [April 9]. This will be one of the first foreign meetings of the newly elected German government, meetings with Mrs. Chancellor... What will we talk about? About peace, peacekeepers, support for reform, concrete projects that we are launching together with Germany in Ukraine... Our agenda is very extensive," Poroshenko said.

He added that he was extremely grateful to Merkel for the fact that Ukraine is a top priority for Germany.

"As an example, one can say that Ukraine and peacekeepers are the key issue in the coalition agreement of the German government. Five or six countries are mentioned there. This is very symbolic," Poroshenko said.
