Ukraine demands release of activist Nariman Memedeminov arrested in Crimea

Ukraine has urged the occupation authorities of Crimea to release blogger and activist Nariman Memedeminov.

Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Mariana Betsa reported this on Twitter.

"After the illegal election, the occupants intensify pressure on the Crimean Tatar people. We demand the release of activist Nariman Memedeminov," she wrote.

On March 22, The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) searched Memedeminov’s house in Kholmivka village, in the region of Bakhchysarai. Later, he was taken to a FSB center in Simferopol for questioning.

On March 23, the Kyiv District Court in Simferopol ruled to arrest Memedeminov until May 16.
